Loony librarians and wacky web developers unite and go camping!
If you like sitting around a campfire toasting marshmallows, communing with nature, exploring stuff, and are a loony librarian and/or wacky web developer or simply enjoy the company of loony librarians and/or wacky web developers this is the camping club for you.
Why a Loony Librarian – Wacky Web Developer Camping Club you ask?
Well, I happen to be a loony librarian and Dean happens to be a wacky web developer and we love to go camping – especially with Skippy the Camping Cat. We like tents and quiet, private campgrounds with nice trails and neat places to explore – walk-in campsites are our favorites. On all of our camping adventures last summer we’d say to ourselves, “It sure would be fun to have some friends along.” Alas, timing and planning never worked out, but hopefully with this new forum that can all change, and maybe we’ll find some new camping friends as well!
We will be posting information about our first camping destination in the new year so stay tuned.
UPDATE 2008: Well, we’ve now got three destinations set for the summer – all in beautiful Wisconsin state parks on extended holiday weekends. The three destinations are – *drumroll please!* – New Glarus Woods State Park, Nelson Dewey State Park, and Buckhorn State Park. And, yes, of course, Miss Skippy the Camping Cat will most definitely be there! If you’re interested in joining us on any of our camping adventures for marshmallow roasting, a quick hike, or some good ol’ conversating shoot an email or leave a message here. Happy trails!
UPDATE 2009: And now, the destinations for this summer. They are (in no particular order and all in Wisconsin): Kettle Moraine State Forest, Point Beach State Forest, and Nelson Dewey State Park. All of the trips take place over extended holiday weekends once again, and all of the parks are beautiful. The Lester Public Library in Two Rivers, WI can vouch for the magnificence of Point Beach State Forest. Kettle Moraine is quiet, quiet, quiet, and more quiet. Nelson Dewey has some of the most amazing views in the state right from the campsites on the ridge, and great train sounds if you like that kind of thing – we do. As always, feel free to drop us a line if you are interested in communing at one of these places. We’d love to meet you!
What kind of people take cats (or humans) on camping trips! Loons and whacks, that’s who.
Sign me up!
No, seriously– sign me up!
Alrighty then, you’re signed up! But if we run out of marshmallows it’s all on your shoulders bud. 😉
Damn, I wish I’d known about these. I’m a librarian who is also a former web designer!
We’ve got three trips this summer! Actually one this weekend if I’m not still sick in bed… blech. I will not miss a camping trip for being sick!! No way!
